MacBook Pro or No??? (and sappiness for 4 great blogs)

Well…I heard the crickets chirping oh so loudly at my last questioning post.  I get that I don’t have as many followers as the absolutely fantastical Step Into Second Grade blog.  Or the “just as the name implies” Sunny Days in Second Grade blog.  And I just can’t forget the very first blog and website I found that had to do with 2nd grade--Mrs. Bainbridge's Class blog.  These ladies are an inspiration to me and I dream of one day being as creative.  These 3 ladies make it into my classroom at least once a month.  Smile  I can’t forget Kate over at Innovate, Create and Relate with Kate blog it is a super cute blog with some really good teacher tips.  Kate was also so sweet and joined my site not once, but TWICE!!!  (SSHHH!!!!  I know it was by accident.)  OOOPS!  Back to the original topic---I’m assuming nobody has heard of Espresso Elementary.

My next question.  I really need some advice on this---I KNOW you’ve heard of this product.  Should I get a MacBook Pro or No?  I’ve researched and researched.  I rested and then I researched some more.

The CONS to buying a MacBook…

  • I really WANT one, but I don’t really NEED one.
  • I have a great desktop (not a Mac) which has a really large monitor so I can view (and read, cut, & paste) at least 2 pages very easily at the same time.
  • The MacBook is quite an investment.

The PROS to buying a MacBook…

  • I can put grades in, do lesson plans and research (stalk and steal ideas from several blogs) while waiting an HOUR before my sons’ football or soccer games even begin.
  • I have a 19 year old daughter (who is still at home—don’t get me started) and two boys that are 13 and 10 who are doing many more projects on the computer for school (and who  know more than I do about technology now and they are always messing up improving my computer so that I am always having to learn new ways of doing things.)
  • I have heard that Macs are so easy to use.
  • This laptop will be ALL MINE.  No sharing OR borrowing!!  Smile

Your help would be SOOO appreciated.  If you have a MacBook, which do you have?  Do you love it?  Do you use it more than your desktop?  Do you have 13 inch or 15 inch?  Do you have 500GB or 750GB or RAM?

Thank you in advance,

Denise

I was an avid PC user before I became a teacher, simply because my school gives each teacher a MAC Airbook laptop. Once I started using that, I never started up my own pc laptop {although barely used} again. It still sits in my office. I splurged for a MacBookPro last November, and am in love! It'll take you a little bit of time to get use to it, but once you do, you won't go back! It is super easy to use, convert, save things {ICloud}, etc.

I have a regular MacBook and now wish that since I'm designing more materials that I purchased a macbook pro. I love it. The main reason I got a mac was because we have a cart of 12+ year old mac laptops that are still alive and working after many years of abuse from our students! Apple does do an educator/student discount and sometimes you can get them at a great price at the MicroCenter stores. Mine had them recently for 1099.

I got a MacBookPro this past summer when our school took our Macs for inventory. I have been so happy with it. I used educator discount through the apple store and got the cheapest one they have. It has been completely awesome with no problems (knock on wood). I did add the Microsoft Office bundle to it because I create all of my units in powerpoint. It was a big investment and so worth it. I vote DO IT!

i absolutely LOVE my Macbook PRO!!!! My husband and daughter bought it for me on their way home from a ridiculously expensive weekend football game getaway!!! I was stuck at home completing my research proposal, so I couldn't go. I have a time using my school PC!! I get very frustrated when I can't use screen shot!!!! :)

I don't think you will regret the decision to purchase one. I wish I had "converted" years ago!!! :)

I am okay with Mac or PC, but I definitely think a laptop is worth it! It makes it so much easier for me to multitask!

A Mac Book Pro will change your life! My love for MAC started with a Mac Book Pro then went to a Mac Book Air and then returned to my first love THE Mac Book Pro! You simply can't go wrong. They rock! I also love creating things for my sweets in keynote!

I just ran into your blog. I am a k-4 writing specials teacher. I actually do quite a bit of stuff with 2nd graders. I too have a foldable, but it's a hamburger for writing beginning, middle, and end. They will finally end the year writing 3 paragraphs. :0) The teachers I work with are super pumped!

Great question because I have wondered the same thing. I want a MacBook Pro and recently I spilled a glass of water all over the keyboard of my laptop (I am such a clutz). But because of the timing, I needed a replacement ASAP so I went and bought another PC off of a store shelf. Now I feel like I don't have a good reason to buy a MacBook. So if you have one now, DO IT! LOL! And then let us know all about it!
